ABOUT BETH TIBBS LLC

Picture

Hello. I'm Beth Tibbs of Beth Tibbs LLC. I'm an educator, historian, and musician who spent over thirty years teaching at the university level. I have a Ph.D. in  music history (musicology), an undergraduate degree in history, and have studied German, French, Italian, and Spanish.

My professional activities have ranged from teaching humanities and history courses on a Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota to writing music curriculum as a university music chair person and from creating and directing a non-profit organization to teaching sailing, swimming, violin, piano, and voice lessons to students ranging from age four to eighty.

"Education is not the filling of the pail, but

the lighting of a fire."

-attributed to William Butler Yeats

I have led five overseas tours with clientele ranging
in age from seven to seventy-seven.
In all the tours at least half of the group have been singers who have had the opportunity
to perform in extraordinary venues including
Notre Dame Cathedral, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Salzburg Dome.
The other half of the group cherished the experience of hearing beautiful music in such breathtaking venues.

My partner in Beth Tibbs LLC is Retired Sergeant Major Charles Loftis (Chuck).
We come from very different backgrounds, but have very common ideals, interests, and goals.
After spending 30 years in the Army (as a Ranger and Delta Force Operator), Chuck returned to Jackson, MI.
We were fortunate to meet at his sister's house and have been together ever since.
Chuck says he is only the pool boy, but I attest he is much more than that! Not only does he provide a sense of security to our tours, he is also a brilliant historian (military and more).
We are thankful for the good fortune to share our expertise and passions with others.

On June 28, 2014 , with Chuck by my side, I began a five year "war walk"/research project entitled "From Sarajevo to Versailles: A Journey of Remembrance and Reflection on World War I, 2014-2019. His insights into war “theaters,” the soldier’s experience of combat, the dehumanization of the “bad guy,” and the difficult transition from military to civilian life expanded and enhanced my approach to this project. Traveling with a veteran of contemporary conflicts created a unique blend of civilian and military, academic and soldier, and wife and husband. This experience is the inspiration for one of our 2023 tours!
